Visiting the Workshop in Seki — A Manufacturing Update

Visiting the Workshop in Seki — A Manufacturing Update

Recently, we visited the workshop in Seki City, Gifu, where your knives are being crafted.

Gifu is known in Japan for its heavy snowfall. While Seki itself doesn’t receive much snow, the mountains upstream are covered in deep winter snow. As that snow melts, it becomes pure water flowing down to Seki — water that plays an essential role in creating high-quality blades. Standing there, I couldn’t help but think, “May the snow keep falling.”

The purpose of this visit was, of course, to personally check the progress of the knives being made for our Kickstarter backers.

In Japan, we’ve just come out of the long New Year holidays, and another three-day weekend is approaching. Even so, the craftsmen at the workshop were fully dedicated to production, carefully working on each knife with steady hands and quiet focus.

Below are photos of some of the completed knives.
I’m happy to report that manufacturing is progressing smoothly and right on schedule.

I’m deeply grateful to the workshop team for their craftsmanship and commitment.
And I look forward to the day we can finally place these knives into your hands.
